Yoga

With Certified Yoga Instructor, Amanda Rae

Over 300 million people world-wide practice yoga. Yoga is an age-old practice with roots in India and embraced by many cultures and communities today. Ancient yogis practiced for spiritual development and to train the body and mind to self-observe and become aware of its own nature. Practitioners of yoga were able to cultivate discernment, awareness, self-regulation, and higher consciousness.

We have a wealth of research that supports the positive health benefits from practicing yoga. Yoga can change a person physically, physiologically, and psychologically. Yoga can become an integral part of treatment and potentially hasten healing for individuals going through an illness (mental/physical/behavioral), recovering from surgery, or living with chronic pain.

Benefits of Yoga May Include:

  • Mental clarity

  • Emotional balance

  • Increase body awareness

  • Relieve chronic stress patterns

  • Center attention

  • Sharpen concentration

  • Lower blood pressure

  • Improve flexibility

  • Improve balance

  • Better sleep

  • Relieve back pain

  • Ease arthritis

  • Increase energy

  • Strengthen and tone muscles

  • Improve cardio and circulatory health

  • Protect from injury

Someone can experience any of the prior mentioned at any age and for the long or short-term. Yoga is one of the most used complementary and alternative medicine modalities in the United States. Yoga teaches tools to help people feel empowered to move beyond suffering, feeling better in their bodies and minds. These are tools that individuals learn to incorporate into their lives and ultimately help themselves.
